1.All GRC or Aluminum conduit prior
to coating shall conform to: Federal Specification WW-C-581E, ANSI
specification C80.1 and UL 6.
2.The conduit shall be “Hot Dipped”
galvanized inside and out with hot dipped galvanized threads. The
zinc coating shall be intact, after coating with Colorado Eco Coatings, and
shall not impede electrical ground conductivity or the
known migratory corrosive resistance of the zinc underlayment.
3. Conduits shall be investigated by
Underwriters Laboratories for zinc as the primary corrosion resistant coating.
4.Prior to the application of our
environmentally friendly exterior & interior polymer coating, the conduit
shall be dipped into a proprietary water-based, water soluble &
non-hazardous metal surface preparation/pre-treatment & protective coating
compound to adequately profile the exterior & interior of the pipe.This treatment does NOT in any way compromise
the integrity of the zinc coating.
5.UV: The internal lining and
external coatings shall use environmentally advanced, UV resistant coatings
that contain NO VOC’s,
or other hazardous components; specifically,
no reactive ingredients, phthalates, halogens, isocyanates, or heavy metals.
Additionally, after a minimum of seven years exposure to Florida sun, the
external coating shall be essentially inert to UV exposure as to
appearance and structural integrity. See Note 2 below, test still running as to
UV durability at the Florida location.
6. The exterior of the conduit shall
meet the description of item 4 above, and in addition, the exterior coating
shall comply with flammable toxicity requirements for tunnels, bridges, rail
cars, ships, Class A buildings, for the United States,
France, and the United Kingdom. For example, in complying with NF C20-453 for
use in France, it was determined that the corrosiveness
of the fumes from the combustion of Colorado Eco Coatings coating created a pH
of 4.6, which is a pH common to that of bananas and mangos. See
Note 1, below, for all registered compliance certificates.
7.The Colorado Eco Coatings coated
conduit shall be bendable without damage to either the interior or exterior
coatings.
8.A .002" (2 mils) nominal thickness
coating of shall be applied to the interior of the conduit to reduce drag coefficient
and reduce wire pulling resistance and damage.
9.A .040" (40 mils) nominal
thickness of coating of shall be applied to the exterior of ALL fittings and
conduit bodies.
10.Stainless steel screws shall be
supplied with all form 7 and form 8 fittings.
11.All hubs on fittings and couplings
shall have a sleeve extending one pipe diameter or 2 inches, whichever is less.
The I.D. of the sleeve to be equal to the O.D. of the uncoated pipe.
12.The bond between the coatings and
the metal shall be greater than the tensile strength of the coatings.
13.The exterior coating shall be
completely “field repairable” without production of VOC’s, toxic gas or fumes, to
a near factory condition with tools now commonly used in the trades; heat guns,
gas torches, and similar. NO SOLVENTS NEED BE
USED IN REPAIR OF THE EXTERIOR COATING
14.The
exterior coating shall be field washable as to the removal of dried, painted on
Graffiti or other similar surface disfigurements
of the coating. All structural surface scaring and damage shall be heat-only
